Waimanalo
This image of Waimanalo Beach on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, instantly transports me back with every glance. It’s impossibly turquoise water, deep blue sky and hot yellow sand is relaxation therapy on canvas!
-
Purple
The slow sunrise on a cold and foggy morning in Ohio gently gave way to the intense purple sky you see here.

Lonely
Photographed during the RAAM (Race Across America) in 2006. The cyclists had yet to arrive on this long, lonely stretch of road in Colorado.

Electric
A lightning storm on the Colorado/Kansas border. The wind was so strong that leaning all of my weight onto the tripod was barely enough to hold the camera steady. As the lighting got closer and I realized the only structure around was the metal shed I was standing next to, it became time to leave.

Singapore Storm
Shot in Singapore before sunrise, as a lightning storm threatened to blanket the city in rain. (This image is cropped wide, so the final width will be what you see in the list below, but the height will be slightly less.)

Beggar Boy
Shot at Dardar train station in Mumbai, India. One of my favorite photos ever (and I have edition #1 hanging on my wall). I was trying to photograph a friend and this boy wouldn’t get out of my way until I took his photo. Am I ever glad he was so persistent! The hard life his face eludes to… scars, broken teeth, and more—yet his eyes are unquestionably full of life.

Gold
Shot on the streets of Beijing during the 2008 Summer Olympics, an old woman eating noodles at the Donghuamen market. I find her incredible smile, revealing a mouth full of golden teeth, captivating.
